Thanks for this great tutorial!!! I must be really bad because no matter what I do, the colour goes all over the layer and not in the little squares...

I'm on 300 dpi, grid on layer 1, set up as reference, a new layer above it.... I don't understand

Ah, that sounds like the Selection Threshold might be set too high for the Automatic Selection tool! Here’s how to adjust it:

1. When you tap inside a square to make your selection, don't lift your Apple Pencil (or finger) immediately.

2. Keep it pressed on the screen and slide to the LEFT.

3. As you slide, a blue bar should appear at the top of your screen showing 'Selection Threshold: [some %]'.

4. If that percentage is at or near 100%, that's likely the issue. Sliding left will lower this percentage.

Try reducing it significantly (e.g. down to 30-70%) and then lift your Pencil/finger. This should make the selection or fill more contained to the square.

You might need to undo (two-finger tap) and try this a couple of times to find the sweet spot for your grid. Please let me know if this works! 🙌

Yay, I'm so glad that was it! You're very welcome! Procreate has a few little quirks like that, but once you know them, life gets a lot easier. And thank you so much for the kind words about my work, that really means a lot! 😊

P.S. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to reach out! I'm here to help.
